Director’s Take: Building Arts-Tech Capacity through STEAM Collaboration

In this month’s podcast, we highlighted some of our STEAM-related projects with artists and arts organizations. As I’ve discussed previously, our work is never about new technology for its own sake, but instead aims to enhance audience engagement, enable new forms of interactivity, and explore new creative possibilities. We pursue such collaboration because we firmly believe in a virtuous circle where great art inspires technology, and great technology advances the art. Art and technology have always been closely linked, and the medium of live performance continually incorporates new ways to connect with and captivate broader and broader audiences. Modern pop concerts, theater, and opera performances involve a high degree of carefully-crafted technology to create dazzling onstage spectacles and effects.
